Evening Walks Around the Pond

Placeholder of an evening family walk

After dishes, we take the long way around the pond. It is not far. It is just far enough to let the day loosen its shoulders.

We look for turtles on the log and herons in the shallows. The children keep a running count of frogs. The count is never the same twice, which keeps the peace.

Sometimes we bring a basket for interesting stones. Sometimes we bring nothing and come home with wet shoes anyway.

These walks are the quiet engine of our week. No itinerary. No lesson plan. Just a family moving at pond speed.
